Important – Home Security

Woodlea Community,
Please pass to your neighbors and friend regarding an attempted break in on Meade Drive in Greenway. Thank goodness for our built in security dogs!
You all know the drill…re-check all your window locks, back doors, and keep your garage doors down if possible.
We will be having another Community Watch Meeting in Feb. or early March.
Have a wonderful 2010!

In Greenway…on Meade Drive

Keep your eyes open and pass the word someone is lurking through Greenway.

Apparently someone tried to crowbar open our bottom sunroom door this evening; didn’t get in but tore the door frame all up. The dog was going crazy around 7:00 PM tonight so that’s when they figure someone was trying to break in downstairs.  Leesburg sent someone to look at it but there were no prints, just a bad footprint in the mulch that could have been made by anyone.

Don, I had them walk the perimeter of your house and all looked good. Roger, they made a couple of trips over to see if you were in but no one answered.
Fortunately Lexi and her friend had gone to dinner with her friend’s mother. The alarm wouldn’t go ready so I checked the downstairs door and that’s when I found it all mangled.
Please keep your doors locked and bolted. If anyone saw anything or anyone suspicious, please let me know.
Thanks and be safe,
Stuart

Black Bear Spotted West of Woodlea

Last week while exploring the woods behind our house at 609 Hillview we encountered a black bear. He was about 50 ft from us on the path that runs through the property. When he saw us he changed direction and headed towards Foxleigh where we subsequently heard dogs barking. Last night around 12:30 am, our dogs starting barking like crazy. A growling noise was heard outside. Cannot confirm that it was the bear but it definitely wasn’t a domesticated animal.

I notified animal control last week after we sighted the bear but they didn’t seem very interested. They didn’t even want our actual address. I wanted to make sure our neighbors were aware. Might be a good idea to make sure garbage cans are covered or kept indoors. We don’t want him getting comfortable and drawn to the area because of the scent of food. Also keep an eye on pets that may get lose and wander into the woods. Hopefully the bear is just passing through as this is their active time.

Thanks,
Sheila Heinze
